The new X1 Bluetooth wallet is not a replacement for the QR-code air-gapped S1 hardware wallet. Rather it’s an addition to the SafePal HW product lines to fit different user demands.
On the security level, the X1 device will generate a unique key when paired with the SafePal App for further usage. All the information/data between the X1 and the App is encrypted and can only be decrypted via the unique key.
Compared to S1, the UX of X1 would be quite different. For example, on S1, for every transaction you will have to scan the QR codes back and forth to sign & approve the transaction, while for X1, there is no QRcode scanning. Instead once paired with the app via Bluetooth, all the transaction details will be synced to the X1 via Bluetooth and then you just need to enter the PIN code to approve it.
