This article explains the concept of the Security Password on the SafePal App and how to use it properly for asset security. It covers the following topics:
What is a Security Password and why is it important?
Security Password is a password that you use in the SafePal App. It is used to configure the App security settings, such as fingerprint and pattern, and sign the transactions or approve DApp logins when you are using a SafePal software wallet in the App.
How to use the Security Password safely?
- For security purposes, if you mistype the Security Password multiple times, the wallet will be locked up automatically. Once locked, you will have to wait for a period until the wallet is unlocked and try again. It won't erase or reset the wallet. This lock-up mechanism is to protect your wallet from others trying to hack into your wallet by trying out the passwords multiple times.
- SafePal does not store or access your Security Password. If you forget it, please follow the instructions below to set up a new one.
What if I forget my Security Password?
Since SafePal doesn't store any of your personal information such as security passwords, or mnemonic phrases, we cannot help to recover your account once you forget the Security Password for your SafePal App.
Here is the solution when this situation happens:
1. Make sure you have correctly backed up your seed phrase and your Passphrase (if you have set any Passphrase for the wallet)
2. Delete and re-install the SafePal App
3. Recover your wallet in the SafePal App using the correct seed phrase. During the wallet recovery, you are able to set a new Security Password.
If you see a different wallet after the wallet recovery, it's possible that you've recovered the wrong wallet. In this case, read this article for further assistance.
