Important tips before the upgrade:
Make sure your mnemonic phrase is securely backed up and stored in case of any potential firmware upgrade failure.
Upgrade your S1 device in four steps
Step 1 Download the latest firmware
Visit www.safepal.com/upgrade, enter the SN of your S1 device and download the latest firmware. The device SN can be found from: Open the S1 device ---> Settings ---> About.
The firmware file name might be 'upgrade.bin(1)' or 'upgrade.bin(2)' if you have downloaded the firmware before. Always remember to rename the firmware file as 'upgrade.bin' or the S1 device cannot recognize it.
Step 2 Enter the upgrade mode on the S1 device
Connect your S1 device to the computer with a USB cable, and start the S1 device.
Go to Settings ---> Upgrade ---> Backup already ---> Enter Upgrade Mode
Make sure that you have clicked 'Enter Upgrade Mode' so that the S1 device will initiate the firmware upgrade process. By doing this, the computer will detect a virtual disk so that you can move on to the next step.
Step 3 Add the firmware to the virtual disk
Once the S1 device enters the upgrade mode, the computer will detect and pop up a virtual disk. Open the virtual disk, and drag the 'upgrade.bin' firmware into the disk.
Then click 'Upgrade' on the S1 device.
Note: Do not open the firmware file. Simply move it to the virtual disk.
Step 4 Complete the upgrade
It might take 1-3 minutes to complete the upgrade process. Once the upgrade completes, you can continue to use the S1 wallet as usual.
